GovDTF July Workshop

On July 14 & 15 in the Washington DC area the Government Domain Task Force (GovDTF) of the Object Management Group (OMG) is planning to host a two-day workshop with the following objectives:

  • Inform the government community of the activities of the OMG in the government sector.
  • Receive feedback to guide our activities and our roadmap of planned activities.

The Workshop will focus on the two areas of greatest activity, spending one day on each. This is an opportunity to learn about

  • Records Management Services - A standardization track led by the National Archives and Records Administration based on requirements authored by an 18 Agency Interagency Project Team.

  • OMB/OMG Collaboration Agenda - Following the successful standardization of the Federal Transition Framework, a multi-agency team is addressing a Metamodel for Federal Segment Architecture. Learn about this work in progress.

  • Issuance of the Metamodel for Federal Segment Architecture RFP - Includes presentation to the GovDTF, Review by the GovDTF and the Architecture Board and modification of the RFP as necessary. On successful recommendations to issue, it will be issued in the Domain Technology Committee Plenary on Friday, 26 June.

  • Skills Management  RFP Presentations.

  • Roadmap Session: We are exploring activating an RFP work item on a standard for Records Management Services Test Suites.

Meeting Minutes

  • Records Management Services Specification Adopted The Records Management Services Specification was approved by the Government Domain Task Force and the Architecture Board. The specification is currently under an electronic vote by the Domain Technology Committee (nominally a 10-week process). This vote is a formality which seldom fails. Congratulations to the Joint Records Management Services specification team (JRMS) for a job well done.
     

  • GovDTF Whitepaper Issued: "OMG Value Proposition for Government Agencies" The GovDTF issued a whitepaper, "OMG Value Proposition for Government Agencies" in a teleconference on 20-March-2009. The whitepaper can be found at: http://doc.omg.org/gov/2009-03-16
     

  • Joint Meeting on Case File Management: GovDTF & BMIDTF The Business Modeling and Integration DTF is preparing to issue an RFP on "Case File Management" in collaboration with the GovDTF. The BMIDTF RFP builds on the recently adopted GovDTF Records Management Services specification. All are encouraged to review the RFP which can be found at: http://doc.omg.org/bmi/2009-03-03. Send comments to gov@omg.org and bmi@omg.org.
     

  • Metamodel for Federal Segment Architecture (MFSA) RFC Open Submitters' Meeting Hosted by GovDTF GovDTF's newest work item, the Model for Federal Segment Architecture (MFSA) is proceeding well. This work is being done in collaboration with the Office of Management and Budget, and numerous US Agencies. There is a possibility that we will be able to issue the specification as an RFC as early as the June meeting in San José, Costa Rica. [Note this effort has since been switched over to the RFP process]

  • RFP: MDA Models for Records Management Services RFP - Completed
    A Revised Submission was received from the Joint Records Management Submission team (CA, CSC, Lockheed Martin, and Visumpoint) in time for the 4-week rule for consideration in the Washington DC meeting commencing 23-March-2009 The GovDTF and the Architecture Board approved the specification as noted in the Alpha Manifest, above. The submission began its DTC electronic vote. The RMS Finalization Task Force was chartered by the DTC.

  • RFP: Metamodel for Federal Segment Architecture (MFSA)
    This work item was activated from the roadmap in Orlando at the request of the US President's Office of Management and Budget. The OMG Governance process was recently changed back from the Request for Comment (RFC) to the Request for Proposal (RFP) process.

    The RFP was posted 25-May-2009. The schedule is aggressive, targeting the San José, Costa Rica TC meeting for adoption in June 2009. See the project page for schedule.
     
  • RFC: Records Management Maturity Model
    Work item on hold awaiting resources.
